It contained 0.87% w/v of free ammonia Instead of a minimum of 1.12% w/v.Cautioned The retailer's remaining stock was returned to the Manufacturing Chemists who found that the NHg content was slightly lower than that found by the Public Analyst. This result confirmed the manufacturer's theory of faulty closures to the bottles, as the content figures after manufacture of the batch from which the retailer's delivery formed part, was 1.25% free ammonia. Further tests are being carried out to Improve the closures, and thus prevent evaporation.
A984 (Formal)Sausages-beefLabelling Infringement This sample was purchased as beef sausages, but analysis revealed It to be a sample of preserved beef sausages.The vendor was warned that the sausages were not labelled, or the prescribed notice exhibited to the effect that the sausages contained preservative. It was stated that due to re-decoratlons being carried out at the premises, the prescribed notice had been mislaid, but that the oversight had now been rectified and a suitable notice exhibited.
2287 (Informal)Stomach Tablets, HerbalLabelling Infringement In the opinion of the Public Analyst the references to this article on the carton and In the accompanying literature might be liable to mislead the public as to the true nature of the tablets, as they were not antacid In the normal sense of the term.Cautioned The tablets contained a mixture of dehydrated vegetable Ingredients possessing no direct antacid properties. The acid-base balance of 6 tablets (dally dose) was equivalent to 43 mis. N/10 alkali which is the same as that of about ljozs. of raw carrots or celery. The manufacturers agreed there was some ambiguity in the wording of the descriptive matter, and proposed to modify the wording at the next printing of cartons and literature.
