2305 (Informal)Cherry Cough SyrupLabelling Infringement This preparation contained the active constituents listed on the label which did not Include any reference to preparations of cherry bark or cherry laurel. The article was not entitled to the description "Cherry Cough Syrup".Cautioned. The Manufacturers maintained that the description of the basic Ingredients and the extracting process would be Inconveniently long for the space available on the label, but eventually agreed to alter the title to "Children's Wild Cherry Flavoured Cough Syrup".
2436 (Informal)Dried Fruit (Mixed)Labelling Infringement The label on the container of this article stated - "cleaned and processed ready for use"; but the mixed fruit was found to contain 0.05% of sand and other earthy matter.Cautioned. The retailer's remaining stock was returned to the wholesaler to be suitably dealt with. The packers agreed to reprint the cartons omitting the words "Ready for Immediate use" and any reference that the fruit had been cleaned.
2424 (Informal)Glycerin, Lemon Oil, HoneyLabelling Infringement This preparation was described on the label as "Glycerin B.P., Lemon Oil B. P., Honey B. P.C., Ext. Ipecac. Llq. B. P.", but was found to consist of a compounded syrup containing a large proportion of sugar In addition to the main Ingredients specified In the title.Cautioned. The manufacturing chemist amended the label for this preparation to read "Syrup of Glycerin, Lemon Oil and Puriried Honey and Ext. Ipecac. Llq. B. P.", which the Public Analyst agreed was a reasonable description for the article.
2432 (Informal)Luncheon MeatThe Luncheon Meat contained 72% of meat, whereas a reasonable minimum meat content Is considered to be 80%.Cautioned. The French manufacturers expressed surprise that the meat content was below 80% and maintained that It was manufactured In such a manner that the meat content should have been 80%. A further sample will be taken in due course.
