LICENSED PUBLIC HOUSES
Fourteen visits of inspection were made to the licenced
public houses in the Borough.
Further substantial and varied improvements are still
being carried out in the form of reconstructlonal work, the
provision of additional sanitary conveniences, baths, washbasins,
hot water supply and also the more general use of detergents and
sterilising agents for the washing of utensils, glasses, beer
pipe lines and pumps.
HEATING APPLIANCES (FIREGUARDS) ACT, 1952
Twelve visits were made during the year to premises which
sold heating appliances.
This involved the carrying out of numerous tests on the
many types and designs of heaters offered for sale.
One infringement of the Act was discovered and rectified.

Ten school canteen kitchens and nine hospital kitchens
were sprayed for flies, ants, moths and cockroaches.
The Insecticides used were Pybuthrln, Dleldrex, D.D.T.,
Municipal spray and Gammexane Liquid Spray.

A - SURFACE TREATMENTS
(1) Five thousand three hundred and fifty six visits were
made during the year by the Rodent Operator and seven hundred
and twenty one by the Public Health inspectors to premises
Infested or possibly harbouring rats or mice.
Five hundred and two premises were cleared of rats or mice
and no major infestations were recorded.
