Maternal Mortality. There was no maternal death. The
maternal mortality rate for England and Wales was 0-64 per
thousand total births..
Infantile Mortality. The Infantile mortality rate was 19.0
per thousand live births, compared with 18.7 per thousand live
births In 1.954 There were seventeen deaths of infants under
one year compared with eighteen In 1954, Of the seventeen deaths,
thirteen occurred In the neo-natal period within one month of
birth as is shown in the following table of causes and age
groups.
