The incidence of active Pulmonary Tuberculosis was 1.1 per
thousand persons examined in the Borough in 1954, compared with
1.6 in 1953. The average incidence in the County of Surrey in
1954 was 1.2 per thousand persons examined, which compares with
1.7 in 1953. The figures suggest a continuing tendency for the
number of undetected cases to decline. It is difficult to make
deductions from single random samples of the population. In the
Sutton survey the incidence was 2.2 per thousand persons examined.
