SMOKE ABATEMENT
The few chimneys attached to industrial premises in the
district have been kept under observation.
Eighty-three visits were made in connection with the location,
collection and renewal of the grit deposit gauges which were
placed in position on the 1st January 1952.
An assessment of the total solids including ash is being
obtained and results collated over a period in order to ascertain
the full extent of the problem in the north end of the Borough.
