(2) Bread Containing Mouse Droppings. In November,
1949, evidence of mouse contamination was found in a loaf of
"Bermaline" bread purchased by a customer from a local
baker's shop. The contamination was found to be due to
mouse droppings in the loaf substance, and this was confirmed
by laboratory tests. The case was heard in February, 1950,
and resulted in the Company being fined £25 with 10/- costs.
FOOD AND DRUGS ACT, 1938—Section 13 (i).
Precautions against Contamination of Food.
The above Section requires there shall be provided in or
within reasonable distance, suitable washing facilities, a
supply of soap, clean towels, and both hot and cold water for
the persons employed. It is gratifying to note that during
1949, sixty-six instantaneous hot water heaters have been
installed in the various food establishments, as the result of
informal action.

and re-enact with amendments The Milk (Special Designations)
