During 1943 it was again possible to maintain a
satisfactory numerical standard of sampling.
Of the total samples 3.77% were found to be
adulterated or carrying misleading labels. This percontage
figure excludes informal samples repeated formally; samples
of No. 2 Anti-gas ointment and Margarine.
No prosecutions were instituted but warnings were
given in all cases of unsatisfactory samples.
MILK SUPPLY.
There are 12 dairymen and 15 retail purveyors of milk in
the district. Two persons whose premises are outside the
district are also registered as retail purveyors. Routine
inspection of promises has again revealed that the provisions
of the Milk and Dairies Order, 1926, have been genorally
well observed.
Under the Ministry of Pood Milk Rationalisation Scheme
the number of premises from which milk wa3 sold in 1943 was
considerably reduced.
