At the end of 1941, 54 premises had been registered
in accordance with Section 14 of the Food and Drugs
Act, 1938. The majority of the registered premises
are concerned with the manufacture of sausages only.
Fifteen cases of insanitary conditions in food shops
were dealt with.
There is one licensed slaughter-house in the district.
The only animals slaughtered during the year have
been 21 pigs from pig clubs slaughtered under licences
issued by the Ministry of Food.
These were inspected at the time of slaughter, and one whole carcase (4.7% of the whole) condemned on account of non-tubercular disease.
