The number of Deaths from the common infectious
diseases were :—Measles 0, Diphtheria 3, Scarlet
Fever 0, Whooping Cough 0, and Influenza 13.
Maternal Mortality.— The maternal mortality rate
was lower at 3.03 per 1,000 total births. There were
two deaths from haemorrhage due to placenta praevia
and one death consequent on self-induced abortion.
Infantile Mortality.— The infantile mortality rate
was lower at 42.25 per 1,000 live births. The fortytwo
deaths were due to the following causes :—
Congenital Malformations 10
Prematurity 9
Broncho-Pneumonia 5
Acute Bronchitis 5
Cerebral Haemorrhage 5
Gastro-Enteritis 3
Misadventure 2
Other Diseases of Infancy 3
