TUBERCULOSIS.
On 31st December, 1940, there were on the
Register 498 cases of Tuberculosis, of which 400
were pulmonary and 98 non-pulmonary cases. The
death rate for Pulmonary Tuberculosis was 0.47
per 1,000 of population, and for non-pulmonary
Tuberculosis 0.09 per 1,000 of population. The total
Tuberculosis death rate in 1940 was 0.56 per 1,000
of population, compared with 0.56 per 1,000 of population
in 1939. The corresponding death rates for
England and Wales in 1940 were : Pulmonary, 0.58
per 1,000 of population; non-pulmonary 0.11 per 1,000
of population. Total rate, 0.69 per 1,000 of population.
