72
children with multiple handicaps
By the end of 1968, there were 36 boys and 27 girls with two or more handicaps. It has become
evident that children with multiple handicaps are increasing in number, this is particularly evident amongst
the younger age groups and presents problems in education particularly in the deaf/blind children.
The 63 children in this group attend either special schools for multiple defects of which there are
only few, or schools catering for their major handicap. 56 are in day schools, six in residential schools and one
not at school.
