The use of the Sabin method of vaccination,, i,e, vaccine given by mouth
instead of by injection expanded greatly during the year and the method of in
jection of Salk vaccine was used very little by the end of it,
Puerperal Pyrexia
The number of notifications of puerperal pyrexia was 38 in 1964 compared
with 58 in 1963
Smallpox
Nine notifications of smallpox contacts arriving in this country six by
air, and three by sea were notified to the Public Health Department during the
year They were visited offered vaccination, and kept under surveillance for
the prescribed period No infection appeared,
