illness in all cases was transient. As both of these resulted from
community meals, it seemed desirable that a survey should be
commenced of the whole of the catering establishments in the
Borough for the purpose of making improvements in hygiene, both
of premises and of staff, and, also for the purpose of propaganda
by word of mouth to the food handlers in all such places.
Health propaganda was carried out continuously during the
year by the staff of the Health Department and the Poliomyelitis
films were shown to an audience of persons who were likely to be
called upon to diagnose or treat such cases.
I should like to take this opportunity of thanking all the
members of the Health Department staff, not only for their
assistance in the preparation of this report, but for all their efficient
and willing service throughout the year.
I am. Your Worship, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
Imangand a. Glass
Medical Officer of Health.
