GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES IN THE
BOROUGH.
Civil Ambulance Service.
In October, 1947, a new ambulance, originally ordered early
in 1946, was delivered. It has a Lomas Body, with Lomas patent
stretcher, mounted on an Austin 2-ton chassis, and cost £1,314
10s. Od. This now brings the total number of ambulances provided
and maintained by the Council to three, all of them being
available for call night and day.
The staff consists of eight drivers, working in 24-hour shifts.
