Mother and Child Welfare Service
The number of pre-school children receiving treatment has
remained relatively stable. Treatment facilities have been
offered to all pre-school children whose parents have asked
for an appointment, and the dental auxiliary has given talks
to groups of expectant mothers in the hope that this will
encourage a greater demand for dental care before children
actually commence school. Children should pay their first
visit to a dentist by the time thay are three years old, and in
spite of efforts to let as many parents as possible know this,
by for example a notice on all consent forms, many parents
indicate that they are unaware of this service. The
campaign to increase this awareness will be intensified
during 1972.
