The work of the department suffered to some extent by
reason of staff shortages involving a public health inspector,
the smoke control assistant and the rodent operative.
I should like to take this opportunity of thanking the
Chairman and Members of the Public Health Committee
and Dr. L. A. Matheson, the Medical Officer of Health, for
the consideration shown to me and to express my thanks to
the members of the staff for their able assistance in carrying
out the work of the department.
FRANCIS V. BELL,
Chief Public Health Inspector.
