The work of the department suffered to some extent
by reason of a vacancy in the inspectorial staff. It took
six months to obtain a replacement after one of the public
health inspectors left and with a staff of three additional
inspectors this represented one sixth of the total available
time.
I should like to take this opportunity of thanking the
Chairman and Members of the Public Health Committee
and Drs. W. Cormack and L. A. Matheson, the Medical
Officers of Health, for the consideration shown to me and
to express my thanks to the members of the staff for their
able assistance in carrying out the work of the department.
FRANCIS V. BELL,
Chief Public Health Inspector.
