During the first half of the year the department was considerably
handicapped by shortage of public health inspectors,
only one out of the three additional inspectors remaining.
From July, however, the full establishment was maintained.
I should like to take this opportunity of thanking the
Chairman and members of the Public Health Committee and
Dr. Woods, the late Medical Officer of Health, for the consideration
shown to me. I should like to express my thanks
also to the members of the staff for their able assistance in
carrying out the work of the department.
