Tuberculosis
Deaths from tuberculosis have unfortunately risen this
year as compared with the abnormally low figure of one for
last year. The numbers of new cases notified, however, show
a decrease.
The Mobile X-ray Unit of the North West Metropolitan
Regional Hospital Board visited the district during September
and members of the public were invited to attend.
Appointments could be made at this department, the public
libraries and at one or two chemist's shops. I am glad to
say the public made full use of the facilities offered and the
Unit was used to capacity.
Maternal Mortality
One maternal death occurred in hospital during the
year, this is the third in the past four years.
