3. Water Supply.
Water is supplied to the district by the South-West
Suburban Water Company, of Egham.
It is satisfactory in quality.
A certain number of houses are supplied by wells. Every
endeavour has been made to connect them with the main
supply.
4. Sanitary Circumstances.
The drainage of the district is by cesspool, excepting the
Southern Railway houses (comprising 128 dwellings) which
have their own sewage disposal works. These works were
laid by Messrs. Tuke & Bell, and comprise a detritus
chamber, settling tanks and percolating filters, with automatic
distributors and humus tank. The works are maintained by
and at the expense of the Southern Railway—they are
satisfactory.
The cesspools are emptied by a vacuum motor van,
which is satisfactory and cleanly in action. In the winter
months it is difficult to deal with the emptying of the cesspools
as promptly as is desirable. Short of obtaining a second
van this cannot be avoided.
