Personal Health Services
Priority Dental Service
The inspection and treatment of the priority group occupies approximately one tenth of each dental
officer's time. Attendances show an increase on the previous years. This trend is in no small measure
due to opening of modern clinics and bringing the older surgeries up to date. There are also specially
trained dental surgery assistants who promote good relations with the mothers and toddlers.
All this work is helping to produce in the coming generation a different outlook towards dentistry.
There is no doubt that Local Authority dental clinics working as they do in close conjunction with the
Maternity and Child Welfare arrangements have a special place in the community, and many small
children adapt very well to dental care in schemes of this nature.
