The aforementioned figures include 151 children vaccinated and 384 children re-vaccinated at
London Airport.
No records are available of adults vaccinated by their general practitioners.
Vaccination at London Airport
In 1966 there were 6,605 adult persons vaccinated. Not all these vaccinations were performed on
arriving passengers as in certain circumstances it was necessary to vaccinate outgoing passengers.
Vaccination Against Measles
The first results of the Medical Research Council investigation of measles vaccines undertaken in
1964 and 1965 were published during the early part of the year. These showed a high degree of protection
and indicated that the procedure is worth undertaking. The Ministry, as yet, has made no
recommendation that measles vaccination should be offered as a routine. It was, however, recommended
strongly in the case of children already attending day nurseries, and all new entrants prior to admission.
Family doctors can carry out this vaccination, if they decide it is in the best interest of their patients.
