piece of wire.
5. A bakery was fined £25 with £5 costs for selling a fruit slice containing a brass
screw.
6. A grocer was fined £20 with £3 costs for selling a pork pie affected with mould.
7. A bakery was fined £25 with £5 costs for selling a loaf of bread affected with
mould.
8. A manufacturer was fined £25 with £20 costs for selling a bottle of lemonade
containing insects.
9. A supplier was fined £30 with £10 costs for selling a carton of rice containing
mouse droppings.
10. A stallholder was fined £25 with £5 costs for selling escallops found to be unsound.
11. A garage company was fined £50 with £6 costs for selling a bottle of lemonade
containing oil.
12. A grocer was fined £40 with £5 costs for selling a carton of potato salad affected
by fungus growth.
13. A manufacturer was fined £25 with £5 costs for selling a pork pie containing
a piece of wood.
14. A grocer was fined £25 with £6 costs for selling a carton of yoghurt affected
with mould.
15. A dairy was fined £25 with £5 costs for selling a carton of yoghurt containing
an insect.
16. A grocer was fined £15 with £3 costs for selling a flan case affected with mould.
17. A dairy was fined £30 with £5 costs for selling a bottle of milk containing a
piece of glass.

(3) Food Premises
These received regular inspections during the year and in general the standard of
hygiene is quite good. There are, of course, one or two premises which require extra
supervision and the district inspectors pay particular attention to them.
