Deliveries attended by Domiciliary Midwives
Changes in midwifery patterns are reflected in the figures given below. More and
more mothers are having their babies in hospitals and some of these women are attended
by the community midwives.
Number of deliveries attended:—
In the home 107
In hospital 53
Early discharges attended : 461.
The majority of discharges before the tenth day were planned.
All midwives in the domiciliary service are asked to see that patients having home
confinements have made arrangements with their own family doctor or another practitioner
on the obstetric list. Doctors were booked for all the 107 patients delivered at
home.
