The following new cases have been notified by the undermentioned hospitals of patients treated from this Borough during 1972.

Although the total cases notified show an increase of nearly 3% over the previous
year, the importance of giving guidance to young people on this topic remains.
Arrangements were made to display in post offices throughout the Borough the
address of the nearest clinic where treatment could be received.
Medical Arrangements for Long-stay Immigrants.
The number of immigrants giving destination addresses situated in this Borough
showed an increase compared with 1971 but there was still a large number (22.4%) who
did not arrive at the address given and all trace of them was therefore lost immediately
after arrival.
All destination addresses are visited by Public Health Inspectors who advise immigrants
of the scope of the National Health Service and every effort is made to persuade
them to have a chest X-ray as soon as possible. Twelve immigrants received chest X-ray
at the port of entry.
Where children accompany the immigrant, follow up visits are made by the Health
Visitor.
