The number of notifications received during the year, compared with 1970 may be summarised as follows:—

The table on page 15 gives the number of cases notified under age groups.
Whooping Cough.
Of the twenty-four cases notified, four are recorded as having been immunised and
in two of these booster doses had been given.
Measles.
As can be seen from the histogram on page 12 the incidence of this disease has
been considerably reduced since the programme of immunisation was commenced in the
autumn of 1966.
Nevertheless 306 cases were notified during the year and we should continue to
encourage parents to have their children immunised in an effort to reduce the number
of cases still further.
