State of Immunity.
No attempt is made to give the percentage of children immunized,
because of the extreme difficulty of ascertaining the true population
of any particular age group and the considerable annual transfer of
children into and out of the Boroughs.
As a check the immunological state of 401 entrants to County
Schools during the autumn term was carefully examined with the
following results:—
Percentage immunized IN Richmond or Barnes 67.83%
Percentage immunized OUTSIDE Richmond or Barnes 29.43 %
Total immunized at entry to school 97.26%
Total not immunized 2.24%
No information 0.5%
97.26% of children entering school were shown to be immunized
against diphtheria. The percentage immunized against whooping
cough would be almost as high, and shortly the same high state of
immunity to tetanus will apply since the "Triple" Antigen is now in
general use.
