In the main the requirements of statutory notices were complied
with, but in respect of two properties urgent drain repairs were carried
out by the Council in default of the owners, following the service of
notices under the Public Health Act, 1936. In all cases where the
local authority do work in default, the cost is recovered from the
persons responsible in law.
Legal proceedings were taken in respect of one property under
Section 94, Public Health Act, 1936, when on the 16th April, 1956,
a nuisance order was made against the owner to carry out works of
repair within six weeks.
