Authority to carry out work in default under Section 9 of the Housing
Act, 1936, at a cost of £193/18/3 and £192/15/0 respectively. In
one case, under Section 75, Public Health Act, 1936, the Local
Authority provided three dustbins at a dwelling house and recovered
the cost from the owner.
PROSECUTIONS.
It became necessary to take proceedings against an occupier of
premises who failed to comply with an abatement notice served under
sections 92/93, Public Health Act, 1936.
At the Petty Sessions Court, on the 1st October, 1953, a Nuisance
Order was made requiring the occupier to carry out works to abate
the nuisance within 28 days, and a fine of £5 was imposed with two
guineas cost.
An appeal by an owner against a Statutory Notice served under
Section 75, Public Health Act, 1936, to provide a dustbin at a dwelling
house, was heard at the Petty Sessions Court on the 12th November,
1953. The magistrate disallowed the appeal.
COMPLAINTS.
The number of complaints received from the 1st January to 31st
December, 1953 was 886 which is an increase of 289 over the same
period in 1952.
