Withdrawal of Closing Orders.
Closing Orders made under Section 12, Housing Act, 1936,
by the Richmond Borough Council in respect of four basement
premises were determined during the year following the completion
of works of repair which rendered the premises fit for human habitation
In the case of one other property, an undertaking was given by
the owner on the 18th November, 1938, that the premises should
not be let for human habitation. The undertaking was withdrawn
on completion of a schedule of repairs which rendered the premises
fit for habitation.
Rent & Mortgage (Interest Restrictions) Act, 1920-1939.
One application for a certificate to enable the tenant of a
dwelling house to suspend payment of the increase of rent on the
grounds of the premises being not in a reasonable state of repair, was
made
On inspection, the application was found to be justified and the
Council agreed to the isuue of the necessary certificate.
