DISEASES OF ANIMALS ACT 1950.
The latter months of 1951 and the early months of 1952 were
notable for the large number of outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease
reported throughout England and Wales.
Richmond was not directly involved in any of these outbreaks
but came under Controlled Area Restrictions on four occasions during
1952.
These restrictions controlled the movement of animals except
for special purposes and in connection with this control the following
licences were issued countersigned.
Three occupational licences issued to allow movement of animals
from farm buildings to grazing grounds; 8 licences countersigned to
allow movement of calves, pigs and sheep to slaughterhouses for
immediate slaughter, and 1 licence countersigned to allow the movement
of calves from a farm in the Borough to an address in Surrey.
