Members have been constantly encouraged to further the interests
of the Guild by prominent display of the Food Guild emblem on
their premises.
By the end of 1952 membership had increased by two to a total
of 55 which represents a percentage of 14.51 of the total number of
Food premises in the Borough, a somewhat discouraging figure.
The Advisory Committee met on two occasions during the year,
the Annual General Meeting being one, but apart from these meetings,
there has been very little business for the Advisory Committee to
discuss.
There are still many premises within the Borough where the
standard would admit immediate Guild membership but it is difficult
to persuade the proprietors to apply.
PETROLEUM (CONSOLIDATION) ACT 1928 AND
REGULATIONS MADE THEREUNDER.
Fifty premises within the Borough are licensed to store a total
of 67,585 gallons of Petrol, Petroleum Mixtures and Cellulose
solutions. They have received regular inspection to ensure that the
various regulations have been observed. In all a total of 179 visits
were made to the various installations.
Two new licenses were approved and the licence fees amounted
to £34 15s. 0d.
Only minor infringements of the Regulations were found.
