Withdrawal of Closing Orders.
A closing order was made by the Richmond Borough Council,
prohibiting the use of rooms over a garage for human habitation, on
the 21/11/38.
In early 1951 works of alteration, to this garage and the rooms
over, were carried out and the rooms were incorporated within a new
dwelling.
The work carried out was substantial in character, made the
rooms fit for habitation and enabled the Council to withdraw the
Closing Order.
Rent & Mortgage (Interest Restrictions) Act, 1920-1939.
One application, for a certificate to enable the tenant of a
dwelling house to suspend payment of the increase of rent on the
grounds of the premises being not in a reasonable state of repair,
was made.
On inspection, the application was found to be justified and the
Council agreed to the issue of the necessary certificate.
