In the main the work called for on Statutory notices was done
by the owners but in 3 cases they failed to do so and it became
necessary for the Local Authority to carry out the work in their

PROSECUTIONS.
No legal proceedings were taken during the year. On the
4th April, 1950, the owner of a property appealed against a notice
served upon him under the provisions of Section 75 of the Public
Health Act, 1936 to provide a new dustbin. The appeal was heard
by the Magistrates and upheld. Notice was then served upon the
occupier of the dwelling who provided the new dustbin.
COMPLAINTS.
The number of complaints received from the 1st January to
31st December, 1950 was 1,113, which is an increase over the same
period in 1949 of 103.
