AFTER CARE
A voluntary After Care Committee acts jointly for the
tuberculous patients of both Richmond and Barnes.
During the year this Committee had only very little money
at its disposal, but in spite of this, most welcome help was given
to twenty-seven Richmond residents.
In April the Surrey County Council took over the responsibility
of payment for milk. In this way a number of patients
also benefited by receiving a free milk supply.
Towards the end of the year, the Sale of Seals Campaign was
very actively carried out with most satisfactory results. This
has greatly improved the financial position of the Committee and
the number of patients benefiting in 1947 will be greatly increased.
The aim of the Committee is to supplement where necessary
the Surrey County Council's Treatment Allowances Scheme, to
enable patients to carry out the recommended treatment with a
minimum of financial worry. Cases are treated confidentially
and are given individual consideration.
