The Ministry finally agreed to pay a 30% grant towards the
cost of new expenditure and also work already done on sewer
treatment, providing the whole of the sewer system was given an
immediate overall treatment consisting of 2 days pre-baiting and
third day poisoning, the records of such treatment to be sent
weekly to the Ministry of Food.
This treatment was accordingly carried out between the
8.7.46 and the 1.9.46.
737 foul sewer manholes were baited, 201 manholes showing
pre-bait takes and 105 manhole poison takes, the results being
very satisfactory and meeting with the approval of the Ministry
of Food.
