Public Health Department,
Parkshot,
Richmond, (Surrey).
31st October, 1945.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors
of the Borough of Richmond (Surrey).
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present the Annual Report of the Medical
Officer of Health for the year 1944 upon the Sanitary Circumstances,
Sanitary Administration and Vital Statistics of the Borough.
For economy's sake the material for this Report has once more
been curtailed by the omission of certain tables of statistics, which
however remain filed in the Department so that their continuity from
year to year may be preserved.
On the other hand, at the request of the Ministry of Health, I
have included special reference to the water supply of the Borough,
as also to certain measures adopted in connection with the care of
premature infants and illegitimate children, and to the steps taken in
the Borough to combat uncleanliness and infestation.
As the Council will be aware, during the greater part of the year
under review Dr. C. S. Brebner was Temporary Medical Officer of
Health. I desire to express to him, and to the staff of the Public
Health Department, my acknowledgement for their support in general,
and in particular for their co-operation in preparing this Report.
I am, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
JOHN DANCY,
Temporary Medical Officer of Health.
