Scarlet Fever. During 1934, 52 cases of this disease were
notified and 47 were treated in hospital. The rate per 1,000
living was 1-35 as compared with a case rate of 3-76 in England
and Wales. In 1933 there were 138 cases.
There were no deaths from this disease.
Puerperal Fever and Puerperal Pyrexia. During 1934
five cases of Puerperal Pyrexia and two cases of Puerperal Fever
were notified. There was one death from Puerperal Sepsis.
The Council has made arrangements whereby a medical
practitioner in attendance on one of these cases can have a
consultation with an Obstetric Specialist if he desires.
