Scarlet Fever. During 1925, 112 cases of this disease were
notified and 97 were treated in hospital. The rate per 1,000 living
was 3.2 as compared with a case rate of 2.36 in England and
Wales. There were no deaths.
This is a disease which appears to occur in regular cycles.
For some years there may be few cases notified and this is followed
by a year in which there is an epidemic.
During the last five years the numbers were
1921 | 83 |
1922 | 47 |
1923 | 32 |
1924 | 23 |
1925 | 112 |
If we go back over the last fifty years we find that every few
years there is a recrudescence of the disease.
