Inspections of Factories and Other Premises
There are 71 factories on the District Register and in all
cases Section 7 only is enforced by the Borough Council. 83
inspections were made and 1 notice was served for insufficient
Sanitary Conveniences and 2 for defective Sanitary Conveniences.
These notices were complied with.

The 23 outworkers mentioned above were employed by two
firms in the District. Three of these persons resided in other
Districts and the Local Authorities concerned were notified. A
further 201 outworkers residing in this District were reported
by other Local Authorities.
Noise Abatement Act,1960
One case was taken before the Magistrates under the above
Act (Section 2 sub-section 3) for operating loudspeaker chimes
from an Ice Cream Van outside the permitted hours. A fine of
£2 was imposed.
