Registration of Food Preparing Premises.
The registration of these premises is secured by Section 14 of
the Pood and Drugs Act, 1938 and the number of premises on the
register was 99, being 73 for the manufacture, storage or sale of
ice cream and 26 for the preparation or manufacture of sausages or
preserved foods.
Registration of Manufacturers or Vendors of Ice Cream.
The registration of persons as manufacturers or vendors of
or merchants or dealers in ice cream or other similar commodity is
granted by the Council under Section 158 of the Essex County
Council Act, 1933 the number of persons so registered at the
end of the year was 68.
BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATIONS.
The Counties Public Health Laboratories, 66, Victoria Street,
London, S.W.l, undertake bacteriological examinations for the
Council through the Essex County Council Bacteriological
Laboratory Service.
Ice Cream.

The results are itemised below and it is pleasingto note that the majority of the samples were in Grades 1 or 11.

Pour samples of fruit lolly not graded.
The sample of confectionery cream filling was reported by the
Analyst to be of a satisfactory bacteriological standard.
Samples adversely reported upon gave rise to further investigations
by the Department and the results of all samples were
notified to dealers and manufacturers.
Where the source of
manufacture was outside the area of the Borough, copies of the
Bacteriologist's reports were forwarded to the authorities concerned.
