Prevention of Damage by Pests Act, 1949.
A full-time Rodent Operative is employed for rodent infestation
work and whilst there was no evidence of major infestations
in the town, 2,702 visits were paid to deal with minor infestations
at private and business premises.
The third and fourth maintenance treatments were carried
out in March and September respectively. In March 202 manholes
were baited and of these 50% showed complete or partial takes.
Prior to the fourth maintenance treatment a 10% test-bait of the
whole of the manholes in the Borough showed the need for treatment
in only one small area. Accordingly 45 manholes were treated
and of these 68.8% showed complete or partial takes.
