Section B.—GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES
IN THE AREA.
(a) Laboratory Facilities.
Pathological specimens from this district are examined at the
Pathological Department of the St. Margaret's Hospital at Epping.
The Pathologist has kindly supplied me with the following
figures of specimens from Chingford examined during the year:—

(b) Ambulance Facilities.
On the 5th July, 1948, the Council's Ambulance Service was
taken over by the Essex County Council, as the Local Health
Authority under the National Health Service Act of 1946. The
following is a summary of the work performed by the Ambulance
Service during 1948:—

(c) Nursing in the Home.
The Chingford District Nursing Association has carried on
its good work throughout the year. Maternity nursing and
midwifery cases, in addition to a large number of general nursing
visits, have been undertaken.
