The Council continues to employ a full-time Rodent Operative

there was no evidence of major infestation in the town the Rodent
Operative paid many calls to various properties to deal with minor
infestations. The Council had under consideration the initial treatment
of sewers, but owing to the high costs involved and the lack
of firm evidence of rat infestation in sewers in the town, it was
decided to carry out a 10 per cent. test baiting of manholes. This
work was not carried out until the year 1947.
