of materials collected. In addition to pursuing normal salvage
work, the Council has organised during the year two Salvage Drives,
the results in each case proving satisfactory.
The collection of kitchen waste continued to be an adminis'
trative problem and although the communal bins were maintained,
the Council found it necessary during the year to put this work out
to contract to a local pig breeder.
The weighbridge was maintained under contract and the fees
during the year amounted to £40 18s. 6d., representing 1,637
weighings as against £42 14s. 6d. or 1,709 weighings in the previous
year.
The income derived from the collection of trade refuse was
£67, which was less than the previous year due to the remission
of charges in cases where the material collected had a salvage value.
