in Elmfield House and those outside in all the branches of the
service. Owing to my illness this year I am more than ever indebted
to Dr. Cormack, Dr. Wilkinson, Mr. Easter, Mr. Pugh, Miss Francis,
Miss Greeno and Miss Reeves. It says much for the smooth running
of the administrative and technical activities of the health
department that they have gone on so smoothly during my absence
and I am deeply appreciative of the devotion to duty of these
officers and all the many others outside who have carried on so
faithfully and so well.
I beg to acknowledge my indebtedness to the Chairman and
Members of the Public Health Committee for their helpfulness and
support, which is always of the greatest encouragement. I desire,
also tp acknowledge with thanks the friendly co-operation and
help which I have always received from my colleagues in the other
departments of the Corporation and the other members of the Council.
I am,
Mr. Mayor, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Your obedient servant,
JOHN MADDISON,
Medical Officer of Health.
