Rent Restriction Certificates.
One certificate was granted for premises which were in bad repair.
Four cancellation certificates were issued.
Tents, Vans and Sheds.
During 1951, two renewals of consents were issued for temporary sites for
caravans.
Smoke Abatement.
It was not necessary to take any formal action during 1951 regarding
excessive emissions of smoke.
Schools.
Inspections of the sanitary arrangements and canteens at the schools
within the jurisdiction of the Divisional Executive were carried out by the
sanitary inspectors during the year 1951. It was not necessary to close any
schools on account of infectious disease among children.
Ambulance Facilities.
The Middlesex County Council is the responsible authority for the provision
of the ambulance service under the National Health Service Act, 1946.
Rag Flock and Other Filling Materials Act, 1951.
The Rag Flock and Other Filling Materials Act, 1951, was operative as
from the 1st November, 1951, and four premises have so far been registered.
There are no premises requiring to be licensed as there is no manufacture or
storage of rag flock in the Borough.
One of the difficulties apparent in this Act is the exemption from registration
of premises where re-making and re-conditioning of any article is carried
out. It is known that at least eleven establishments dealing in secondhand
articles are thus exempt from registration. Therefore, there would appear
to be no barrier to the continued sale of articles which may contain contaminated
filling materials.
National Assistance Act, 1948, Section 47.
It was not necessary, during 1951, to remove to suitable premises any
persons in need of care and attention.
