There were 35 still births registered during the year,
giving a still birth rate" of 16.48 per. 1,000 total (live
and still) births,
DEATHS
The net deaths registered in the Borough during 1947
were Males 568 Females 603 Total 1,171, This represents an
increase of 51 compared with the previous year.
The death rate per 1,000 of the population was 11.05
as compared with 12.0 for England and Wales, The natural
increase of population (that is, excess of births over
deaths) was 918 as compared with 835 .for 1946.
Sex Mortality
The sex mortality rate was:- Males 5,36 per 1,000;
Femles 5.690 per 1,000.
