SANITARY ADMINISTRATION.
WATER SUPPLY.
I an indebted to Lt.Col.E.F. Mackenzie, Director of
Water Examination, Metropolitan Water Board, for the folic
report upon the supply for the Borough:-
"The water supply to the Twickenham, area is derived from
the River Thanes, purified in the storage reservoirs at Littleton
and Walton and at the filtration works at Hampton. All the
water is chlorinated before it leaves the works.
Samples of the water are collected at all stages of
purification and analysed five tines each week at the
Laboratories of the Metropolitan Water Board.
All new and repaired nains are chlorinated before bieng
restored to use and samples of water fron then are tested
bacteriologically.
None of the supplies is plur.bo-solvent.
We have no information with regard to the proportion of
the total number of dwelling houses in Twickenhan which are
supplied by the Board, but of these all are supplied direct
and not by means of standpipes.
Appended are the average results of the chemical and
bacteriological analyses of the various supplies."
